The Australia Awards Scholarship is a flagship program of the Australian Government that aims to contribute to the development needs of Australia’s partner countries, especially in the Indo-Pacific region. The program provides opportunities for people from developing countries to undertake full-time study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

Eligibility Criteria
The Australia Awards Scholarship is open to citizens of eligible countries in Asia, Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East who meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of commencing the scholarship
- Be a citizen of an eligible country and not hold or be married to a person who holds Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency
- Not be current serving military personnel
- Not have previously received a long-term Australia Award unless they have resided outside of Australia for twice the length of the total time that they were in Australia
- Have satisfied any specific criteria established by their country and/or government of citizenship
- Be able to satisfy the admission requirements of the Australian institution in which the course is to be undertaken
- Be able to satisfy all requirements of the Department of Home Affairs for a Student visa subclass 500
- Not be applying for a course of study that exceeds two years or a course that has a completion date beyond December 31, 2025
Application Procedure
To apply for the Australia Awards Scholarship, applicants must follow these steps:
- Check the opening and closing dates for their country and select their country of citizenship from the list of participating countries
- Read the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook and the relevant country profile [here] to understand the application process, selection criteria, and priority areas of study
- Research and select two preferred courses and institutions using the Online Australia Awards Scholarships Information System (OASIS)
- Register and complete an online application form using OASIS and upload the following documents:
- Certified copies of academic transcripts and certificates
- Curriculum vitae
- Proof of citizenship and identity
- Proof of English language proficiency
- Development impact plan
- Referee reports
- Submit the online application before the closing date
- Wait for the shortlisting results, which will be announced by the relevant authorities in their country
- If shortlisted, attend an interview and a health check
- Wait for the final selection results, which will be announced by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
- If selected, accept the offer and prepare for their departure to Australia
