The 2025 UNESCO Kulturweit Tandem Exchange Program is a six-month, fully funded opportunity for young Africans to engage in meaningful cultural and social projects in Germany. This initiative aims to promote cross-cultural learning and equip participants with skills to drive positive change in their communities. Participants will collaborate with German counterparts on projects focusing on sustainability, education, social justice, and cultural dialogue.
The 2025 UNESCO Kulturweit Tandem Exchange Program includes an intensive preparatory phase, a three-month stay in Germany, and a three-month project implementation phase in the participants’ home countries.

Eligibility Criteria
- Women* from Egypt, Kenya, Madagascar, Togo, or Tunisia: – Your main place of residence is in one of these countries. This means you have lived in one of these countries for at least two years or have lived there for most of your life. Special case: If your main place of residence is in Germany, we cannot consider your application. – You must be of legal age at least three months before the start of the internship (by May 25, 2025) .
- You must be 30 years old or younger (you must not turn 31 during your stay).
- You should define yourself as a “woman” or be defined by society (the project is also open to intersex, transgender, and non-binary people).
- Good German language skills at level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages .
- A valid passport to apply for a Schengen visa. You can find more information at www.diplo.de or on the website of the German embassy in your country.
- Desire to volunteer in the areas of culture, nature, education, or sports.
- Ability to spend 38.5 to 40 hours per week observing at the placement site.
- Curiosity, openness, independence, and a sense of responsibility.
- Enjoyment of project and teamwork.
- Interest in culture, education, and UNESCO topics in Germany.
