The AFIDEP-AUDA-NEPAD Emerging Technologies Media Award of Excellence is an exciting opportunity for African journalists and media professionals who excel in reporting on emerging technologies and their impact on African development. Organized by the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) in partnership with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), the award seeks to recognize and honor outstanding media coverage that raises awareness, educates the public, and drives discourse on cutting-edge technologies in Africa. Topics of interest include artificial intelligence, biotechnology, renewable energy, e-health, digital finance, and more.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligible journalists for the AFIDEP-AUDA-NEPAD Emerging Technologies Media Award must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of an African country and actively report on emerging technologies within the continent.
- Published Work: Applicants should have published work covering emerging technologies in African media outlets (print, broadcast, or digital) within a specific timeframe.
- Originality and Impact: Submitted work must demonstrate originality, accuracy, and a measurable impact on public understanding or policy discussions related to technology.
- Language: Entries can be in any language widely spoken in Africa, with submissions in French, English, Arabic, or Portuguese especially encouraged.
Application Process and Documents Required
To apply for the AFIDEP-AUDA-NEPAD Emerging Technologies Media Award, candidates need to complete the following steps:
Journalists are encouraged to submit entries by sharing:
- Link to the published article/programme for online entries
- PDF attachment for entries in the Print Category
- Copies of the TV or radio files, stating the date and time programme aired
- Copy of identification
- Submitted files should not exceed 15MB
- Entries should be submitted to the AFIDEP secretariat at htp@afidep.org. Please note that communication with the organisers is in English.
