The African Investigative Journalism Conference (#AIJC2025) is proud to announce its AIJC 2025 Investigative Journalism Masterclass Fellowship. Organized by the Wits Centre for Journalism at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, the Masterclass Fellowship is designed to support mid-career and emerging investigative journalists across Africa by equipping them with advanced skills, resources, and mentorship to sharpen their craft.
This prestigious opportunity is held in conjunction with AIJC 2025, Africa’s leading gathering of investigative reporters, editors, and media professionals. Selected fellows will participate in exclusive workshops and masterclasses led by world-renowned journalists, researchers, and editors.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Masterclass attendance fellowships will be granted to experienced investigative journalists, editors and trainers from African countries, based on their track records and recent work as reflected in their answers below.
- Fellows can also apply for additional travel and accommodation support (excluding home-country transport, insurance, visas, personal in-country transport, or hotel incidentals).
- Successful applicants need valid passports and must arrange their own visas if required, and must be available to travel from 31 October/1 November to 8/9/10 November 2025.

Applications must include:
- A completed online application form (available on the AIJC website)
- A personal statement detailing your motivation and experience
- A CV/resume outlining relevant journalism work
- One to two samples of investigative stories (published works preferred)
- A letter of recommendation from an editor or newsroom leader
