APF Queen-Nellie Evans Scholarship

The APF Queen-Nellie Evans scholarship funds a scholarship to a graduate student from an underrepresented group who has a demonstrated financial need and is committed to improving the disparities in societal structures and issues that negatively impact communities of colour, particularly communities of African descent, particularly:

  • root causes
  • interventions
  • direct or indirect effects on individual mental and physical health and well-being
  • broader negative social or psychological effects on the impacted population

Preference is given to those who:

  • are preparing for a career in academia, clinical service delivery, or public policy;
  • see their work as helping to improve the condition of marginalized communities after the completion of their graduate studies;
  • are members of the communities they seek to serve; or
  • have demonstrated experience serving marginalized communities.

One $4,000 scholarship is offered annually to a graduate student from an underrepresented group with a demonstrated financial need and is committed to improving the disparities in societal structures and issues that negatively impact communities of colour, particularly those of African descent.

Eligibility Criteria

The APF Queen-Nellie Evans scholarship applicants must be minority graduate students enrolled in accredited masters or doctoral programs.
