The Commonwealth Foundation Grants Programme 2025/2026 is now open to applications from civil society organizations (CSOs) across the Commonwealth. With a focus on strengthening civic voices, the programme provides financial support to initiatives that encourage participatory governance and promote inclusion, accountability, and human rights.
Organizations can apply for grants of up to £60,000 to support projects that amplify the voices of citizens, particularly marginalized groups, and foster dialogue between governments and civil society. This opportunity is designed to advance sustainable development through effective people-centered governance.

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the 2025/2026 programme, applicants must:
- Be a registered civil society organization (CSO) in a Commonwealth member country.
- Have at least two years of proven experience in project implementation.
- Demonstrate a strong track record in governance, human rights, and sustainable development projects.
- Ensure the proposed project is participatory and people-driven.
- Organizations must provide matched funding of at least 10% of the project’s total budget.
Application Process and Documents Required
- 16 September 2025: The call opens for applications
- 23 October 2025: The call closes for applications and assessment begins
- February 2026: If you haven’t been contacted by the end of February, your application has been unsuccessful
- June 2026: Successful applicants will be informed before the end of the month
