DAAD/EPOS Scholarships 2026/2027 for Young Professionals from Developing Countries (Fully Funded to Germany)

The DAAD/EPOS Scholarships 2026/2027 offer an incredible opportunity for young professionals from developing countries to pursue fully funded postgraduate studies in Germany. Administered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) under its Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) program, this scholarship aims to foster future leaders who will drive sustainable development in their home countries.

The DAAD/EPOS Scholarships 2026/2027 program supports a wide range of Master’s and PhD degrees in fields such as economics, public policy, engineering, environmental sciences, and more—taught at renowned German universities.

Eligibility Criteria

Young professionals from developing countries (DAC countries) who meet all of the following requirements:

  • have an academic degree, that is not older than six years at the time of application (October 2025)
  • have a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience (post Bachelor, at the time of application); internships and volontary work are not accepted

Note that employment in academia, like teaching and research at a university or research institute, is not considered relevant work experience for this scholarship type; only in very exceptional cases can it be accepted.

  • have an academic degree above average (upper third)
  • having resided in Germany for no more than 15 months before applying

Application Process and Documents Required

Complete the Online Eligibility Assessment (OEA)

If you are not sure if you fufill the admissions requirements for the programme and the consder , consider filling in the OEA. Within one week you will receive an e-mail confirming if you are eligible to apply for the programme and for the DAAD scholarship or not. OEAs will be processed only until October 1.

Basic Information

  • All documents listed below, under Application Documents, need to be compressed or merged as one singe PDF file and then be uploaded to the online application form. The link will be published on July 1, 2025. 
  • Incomplete applications cannot be considered.
  • Referees have to send their reference letters directly to info-meg@unr.uni-freiburg.de, not to the applicant.
  • If you submit the documents listed below, there is no need to submit additional documents required in the DAAD application form (e.g. project outline).
