The GBSN Africa Business Concept Challenge is an annual competition organized by the Global Business School Network (GBSN), a non-profit organization that improves access to quality, locally relevant management and entrepreneurship education in emerging markets. The competition challenges student teams to develop a viable business concept that addresses a locally-relevant challenge or problem related to Agenda 2063, the strategic framework for the socio-economic transformation of the African continent.
The competition aims to foster a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among African students and to support them in developing their entrepreneurial skills and mindset. The competition also offers a platform for networking, mentoring, and learning from experienced entrepreneurs and industry experts.
Benefits
The GBSN Africa Business Concept Challenge offers the following benefits for the participating teams:
- A cash prize of $5,000 for the first place winner, and $2,500 for the second place winner.

Eligibility Criteria
The GBSN Africa Business Concept Challenge is open to all institutions of learning, training, and development on the African continent. To be eligible, the teams must meet the following criteria:
- The teams must consist of two to five members, where at least two must be enrolled at an African institution at the time of the competition.
- The teams must have a mentor to work with, who will help guide them and enrich their learning experience.
- The teams must have a clear and coherent business concept that identifies and defines a local challenge and a viable business solution that addresses the problem.
- The teams must submit their business concepts in English, using the provided template and following the instructions.
Application Procedure
To apply for the GBSN Africa Business Concept Challenge, the teams must follow these steps:
- Check the available competition details and timeline here.
- Choose a local challenge or problem related to Agenda 2063 and a sustainable development goal that their business concept will address.
- Research and develop their business concept using the provided template.
- Fill out an online application form and upload their business concept document and a short video pitch.
- Submit their online application before the deadline, which is March 5, 2024.
- Wait for the announcement of the top 10 finalists, which will be made by March 15, 2024.
- If selected as a finalist, prepare for the final pitch event, which will be held online on April 19, 2024.
- If selected as a winner, receive the cash prize and the certificate of recognition.
