The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships Programme (GOI-IES) 2026 is a prestigious, government-funded initiative designed to attract high-achieving international students to pursue postgraduate studies in Ireland. Administered by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) in partnership with Irish higher education institutions, the scholarship supports students from non-EU/EEA countries who wish to study in Ireland for one academic year.

  • Have received a conditional or final offer from an eligible Irish higher education institution
  • Be applying for a Master’s or PhD programme (Level 9 or Level 10)
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance and leadership potential

  • Meet the academic and English language requirements of the host institution

Candidates from developing countries are particularly encouraged to apply.


Application Process and Documents Required
  • All applications require two references to be uploaded by the applicants via the online portal. It is recommended that candidates submit their applications well before the deadline to avoid technical issues due to heavy server traffic on the respective day.
  • Applications cannot be submitted once the deadline has passed. No alterations can be made to an application once it has been submitted.
