The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation (KSLOF) invites students worldwide to participate in the Science Without Borders® Challenge 2026, an annual international art competition designed to inspire youth to promote ocean conservation through the power of art.
The 2026 theme is “Hidden Wonders of the Deep,” encouraging participants to explore and creatively depict the mysteries of the ocean’s depths and the importance of marine ecosystems. The competition aims to raise awareness about the need to preserve and protect our oceans while engaging young minds in scientific discovery through artistic expression.
Open to students aged 11–19, the Challenge bridges science, creativity, and advocacy, helping nurture a new generation of ocean ambassadors.
Benefits
- Cash prizes: Winners receive up to $500 USD for first place, $350 USD for second place, and $200 USD for third place in each age category.

Eligibility Criteria
- Open to students aged 11–19 years from all countries.
- Entries must be original artwork created by the applicant.
- Each submission must reflect the 2026 theme: “Hidden Wonders of the Deep.”
- Submissions must be 2D art forms (e.g., painting, drawing, digital art).
- Only one entry per participant is allowed.
Application Process and Documents Required
Applications are submitted online through the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation website. Participants must:
- Complete the online entry form with personal and school details.
- Upload a high-quality image of the artwork (JPEG, PNG, or PDF format).
- Submit a short artist’s statement (100–200 words) explaining the inspiration and scientific message behind the art.
- Obtain parental consent if under 18 years of age.
