The RELX Environmental Challenge 2025 is now open to applicants from around the world who are developing innovative solutions to improve access to safe water and sanitation. This global competition, hosted by RELX Group, encourages practical, scalable projects that tackle environmental and health issues linked to clean water and sanitation, particularly in underserved communities.

Now in its 14th year, the RELX Environmental Challenge 2025 aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 and supports cutting-edge ideas that can make a real difference in solving one of the world’s most pressing problems.

• There is a $50,000 prize for the first-place entry and a $25,000 prize for the second-place entry.

Eligibility Criteria

The RELX Environmental Challenge is open to individuals or organisations operating in the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors. Projects must advance sustainable access to safe water where it is presently at risk and/or access to improved sanitation, and include the following criteria:

• Be replicable, scalable and sustainable. and set a benchmark for innovation
• Have practical applicability
• Address non-discrimination/equity of access
• Involve and impact a range of stakeholders
• Have local/community-level engagement
