The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has officially launched the 2025 Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP)—a unique platform for cleantech startups and innovators focused on addressing climate change through cutting-edge sustainable technologies.

Implemented in partnership with the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and national governments, Global Cleantech Innovation Programme supports clean technology entrepreneurs by providing them with the tools, resources, and networks needed to scale their innovations. The 2025 edition emphasizes energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste-to-energy, water efficiency, and green buildings.

This opportunity is ideal for early-stage cleantech startups ready to transform impactful ideas into commercially viable solutions, contribute to climate action, and drive inclusive green growth.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a cleantech startup or individual innovator
  • Have a technological solution in any of the following sectors: energy efficiency, renewable energy, water efficiency, waste management, or green buildings
  • Be in an early-to-growth stage of development
  • Operate in a GCIP participating country (see official website for the full list)
  • Demonstrate scalability, commercial viability, and environmental impact
  • Have a dedicated team or founder with a clear business model
