Applications are now open for the Women in News Global Leadership Accelerator Programme 2025, a career-changing opportunity for mid to senior-level women journalists and editors. Organized by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), this programme supports the advancement of women in media by equipping them with leadership skills, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Now in its latest edition, the Women in News Global Leadership Accelerator is designed to empower women in media with the tools and confidence they need to excel in decision-making positions and lead change in newsrooms across the globe. The 2025 cohort will include participants from Africa, the Arab Region, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.


Benefits
  • 5-10 years direct newsroom experience as a journalist (reporter, correspondent editor)
  • demonstrated passion for the news media industry and a commitment to gender equality and inclusion, as well as principles of press freedom
  • identify as a woman and/or be drawn from a historically vulnerable/at risk community
  • be located outside of the traditional WIN Accelerator markets
  • possess strong spoken and written knowledge of English (the programme will be delivered primarily in English)
  • the ability to commit 1-2 hours per week for 21 weeks in order to participate thoroughly in the programme (candidates who miss more than 20% of seminars will be given an incomplete) 

Upon completion of the programme, participants will receive a certificate of completion with professional designation from WAN-IFRA.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Identify as a woman journalist or editor
  • Be currently employed in a mid to senior-level role in a newsroom or media organization
  • Have 5+ years of professional experience in journalism or news media
  • Reside in one of the participating regions: Africa, Southeast Asia, the Arab Region, or Latin America
  • Demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to gender equity in media
