Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Mawazo Institute Fellowship Program 2025, applicants must:

  • Identify as a Woman: This includes cisgender and transgender women.
  • Nationality: Be a national of an African country.
  • Academic Enrollment: Be enrolled in a PhD program at an accredited university in an African country.
  • Research Phase: Have completed coursework and passed departmental or graduate school proposal defense (i.e., be in the dissertation/thesis phase).
  • Research Relevance: Demonstrate that their PhD research is related to African development and relevant to a global, regional, national, or subnational policy priority.
  • Leadership Potential: Show potential for leadership both within and outside academia and a strong passion to leverage their expertise for societal impact.
  • Time Commitment: Be available to fully participate in the program and dedicate at least 5 to 10 hours a week to the fellowship activities.

The application process for the Mawazo Institute Fellowship Program involves the following steps:

  4. The Call for Applications for the 2025 Mawazo Fellowship Programme will close on Sunday 10th November, 2024 at 11.59 pm EAT.
