The Mawazo Institute Fellowship Program 2025 is a prestigious initiative designed to support African women pursuing their PhD studies. This 15-month, non-residential fellowship aims to build a network of women experts who can influence policy and public discourse in academia and beyond. The program focuses on emerging development issues and provides fellows with the resources and support needed to drive Africa’s development through practical, evidence-based ideas.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Mawazo Institute Fellowship Program 2025, applicants must:
- Identify as a Woman: This includes cisgender and transgender women.
- Nationality: Be a national of an African country.
- Academic Enrollment: Be enrolled in a PhD program at an accredited university in an African country.
- Research Phase: Have completed coursework and passed departmental or graduate school proposal defense (i.e., be in the dissertation/thesis phase).
- Research Relevance: Demonstrate that their PhD research is related to African development and relevant to a global, regional, national, or subnational policy priority.
- Leadership Potential: Show potential for leadership both within and outside academia and a strong passion to leverage their expertise for societal impact.
- Time Commitment: Be available to fully participate in the program and dedicate at least 5 to 10 hours a week to the fellowship activities.
